EMERG WORKSHOP ON CONNECTIVITY, 29.11.2022
Following the EMERG 2021-2022 Work Programme, EMERG held, virtually, a workshop on “Connectivity: overview on the current and future 5G trends across the EU-MENA region”, chaired by Amira Zakaria Noor (NTRA Egypt). Generally, the workshop focused on impact of 5G, the world’s next technological breakthrough, upon the European and Mediterranean region; alongside it examined the current 5G licensing procedures and conditions across the Euro-Mediterranean countries. 5G will be a force for growth and resiliency in a post-COVID era: the NRAs have a chance to benefit from experience related to the current 5G networks deployment and 5G services tests and monitoring, through sharing information and possibly drawing a map on 5G needs on the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Moreover, within the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2021 with the Eastern Partnership (EaPeReg) EMERG invited the Georgian National Communications Commission ComCom member at EaPeReg to present their experience at the Digital Connectivity Summit held in Tbilisi on 14 September 2022.
